Let me deal with on one of the most misinterpreted passage.
In order to understand the chapter we need to keep in mind Paul’s conclusion in Ch. 6:
Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. (more…)

In Ch. 1 and 2 Paul establishes that the general condition of mankind — both Jews and Gentiles — is pretty bleak. There is a horrible sin problem in both camps (we have seen earlier that the language of the Bible is not all-inclusive). He then concludes:
Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law [i.e. Jews], so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For no human being will be justified in his sight by works of the law, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. In Joshua 7 despite the command of God some of the Israelites took the things of Jerico devoted to destruction, and that caused the displeasure of God towards the people. It is often thought that because of the sin of a few all the people became sinners. Does the sin of a single man really makes all others sinners? If it is so, where is justice? If a family member commits a crime and because of it you are called a criminal though living righteously wouldn’t you cry out for justice? (more…)

Paul says in his epistle to the Romans,
Rom. 2:12 All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.
In the above Paul refers to sinful acts, not to some kind of “sin nature”. I have dealt with the idea in another post. (more…)
