Misapplied Passages — Does Hosea teach what men should do in marriage?

I have decided to write about this topic as misapplying Hosea has been causing harm to many Christian men. I will not give an exposition on the passage, it is quite simple. Read it for yourselves.

Many churches and bible colleges teach that once a wife cheats and leaves the husband the man shall never remarry but wait for his wife to return to him. Even if she marries another man, this poor guy must wait with the hope that she divorces him, or perhaps one day her husband dies, and she might return to her rightful husband.

I am aware of a man who was indoctrinated with this doctrine, after divorce lived alone all his life and on his deathbed regretted it. There are many others who are in the same position, so please take note and help them if you meet them. (more…)

Great Cloud of Witnesses — who are they?

Heb. 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us

Is there in the ‘heavenly stadium’ — looking down on Christians still in the race? Who are they that witness the deeds of Christians? Most often the above verse is interpreted that either the angels or the departed saints, the ‘Church of God’ watch Christians from heaven. (more…)

Throne of God and Water of Life — what are they?

Did Jesus declare his deity when he claimed he could quench thirst on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles? We read the following:

Jn. 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, “If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. Is Sickness Caused by Demons or Sin?

This will be a controversial subject, but I think it is vital to deal with it as it has the potential to free up Christians from dangerous misconceptions and practices.

The first passage that may give us important information, this time concerning how the gospels were compiled is this:

Luke 1:1 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things which have been accomplished among us, 2 just as they were delivered to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word, 3 it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent The-oph’ilus, 4 that you may know the truth concerning the things of which you have been informed. The Lord’s Supper — or breakfast?

I wrote the following sarcastic paraphrase:

Luke 22:14 And when the hour came that they woke up, he sat the table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to do this ceremony with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you I shall not do it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he poured juice into small cups, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and pass it around; 18 for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink this juice until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took a cracker, and when he had given thanks he snapped it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the small cups after breakfast, saying, “The juice in these cups which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (more…)
